Dr. Gustav Jeeninga (b.1924) is the son of a Dutch coal miner and pioneer pastor of the Church of God (Anderson). In 1940 Germany occupied his homeland, forcing him to serve Nazi Germany. The resulting stores are full of fear and faith. Gus survived, was called to Christian ministry, migrated to the United States in 1947 to attend Anderson College (University), and in 1960 began a long career at his alma mater as Professor of Biblical Studies, archaeologist, Director of the Jeeninga Museum of Bible and Near Eastern Studies, and Chair of the Department of Religious Studies.

A master storyteller, Dr. Jeeninga now has shared the tales of his dramatic life. He says: “Numerous opportunities and challenges emerged for me, most bringing joy, some pain, all a little more wisdom. Therefore, the title of his book, Door to Life, is quite fitting.” He adds with deep appreciation: “While a young man, Anderson University challenged me to give of my best and reach for the stars.” Two colleagues provide fitting Forewords. Says President Emeritus Robert A. Nicholson: “Rarely has a teacher left footprints that point the way for future generations as have those of Gustav Jeeninga.” Dean emeritus James Earl Massey adds: “This book honors God and will benefit many others whose hearts earnestly seek faith, hope, and meaning.”

Anderson University Press is pleased to make available these many stories of an exceptional life of Christian learning, believing, teaching, and serving.

Book arrived with glue? Residue on the cover
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
Book arrived damaged. I ordered a new copy so it should have had no damage. The book is required for class so I don’t have the time to return it but you’d be better off buying it used from someone else and save some money.
