This breathtaking piece was one of the first Jorge Cocco painted in this new style we call "sacro-cubism". The artist did not try to copy objects as the eye sees them anymore, but rather as they "perceived" them. It is a more expressive process and it reveals a lot more about the artist himself. This is how the artist "feels" about a subject matter.

But cubism focused more on materializing objects and situations, or objectificating people, whereas Jorge Cocco used some of the elements of "cubism" to represent spiritual and sacred events. In a way Cocco revolutionized the concept and how sacred art may be appreciated.
