Rigging and Field Placement Advice

Achieving the Perfect Capsule Angle: To attach the system, thread the e 604 microphone base directly onto the 3/8" male stud of the MZH 604 clamp, then rotate the mic until it points down at the drumhead. Snap the main jaws of the clamp over the top edge of the drum rim. For an optimal balance of transient click and low-end warmth, position the microphone capsule roughly 2 to 3 inches inside the rim edge, angled at approximately 30° to 45° down toward the outer edge of the drumhead.

Protecting Die-Cast Hoops: While the MZH 604 is flexible enough to accommodate thick die-cast rims as well as standard triple-flanged hoops, avoid forcing the jaws excessively over heavily oversized vintage hoops.
