It also gives them great life examples of good, bad and cool behaviors which is great with navigating a toddler through all the different emotions that they go through. She also understands that you can be happy, sad, angry. I like that the Cool Beans touches on kindness and acceptance of others. Kids need kindness! This is my favorite book in this series so far. The complexity in this story makes it a great book to teach many different skills to students. It also resonates with older elementary students. I used this in my 4th grade class to discuss what makes someone cool. It lead to great conversation and one of the messages from the book being that a true cool bean is kind to friends. We also discussed the importance of being kind because you never know the impact a kind act that may appear small can have on the recipient. The last lesson we learned from this book was about the lasting impact of friendships, and that even though you may drift apart because of different interests you can still maintain a connection and be there for each other. This book is awesome. I love the illustrations and the wonderful story.
