Six Questions Your Spherion Franchise Financial Model Must Answer

We built this financial model for a new franchise unit in Charlotte using detailed market research on staffing economics. The pre-populated assumptions for professional staffing, industrial roles, and corporate contracts are fully editable, allowing you to simulate Year 1 revenues of $750,000 and EBITDA of $149,000. This data-driven approach ensures your business plan for an employment service franchise is grounded in realistic unit-level performance.

When does profitability kick in?

The franchise unit reaches profitability in Year 1, generating an EBITDA of $149,000. By Year 5, as the recruiter headcount scales to 4.0 FTE (full-time equivalent) and revenue hits $1.63 million, the annual EBITDA expands to $449,000 after all royalties and fixed costs.

Profitability Levers

  • Scale professional staffing revenue
  • Optimize recruiter productivity levels
  • Manage contract labor percentages
[dynamic_pic9]

What is the total entry cost?

Launching this unit requires a total CAPEX investment of approximately $287,000, including the $40,000 franchise fee and $120,000 for office leasehold improvements. This startup budget also covers essential technology like $35,000 for computer systems and $22,000 for software licenses to ensure a high-tech recruitment process.

Major Capital Uses

  • Leasehold Improvements: $120,000
  • Franchise Fee: $40,000
  • Computer Systems: $35,000
[dynamic_pic10]

What are the investor returns?

Based on the franchise profitability analysis for staffing agencies, you can expect an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 4.53% and a Return on Equity (ROE) of 1.01. The payback period is 4 years, which is typical for a service-based model with significant upfront leasehold and technology investments.

Investor Metrics

  • IRR: 4.53%
  • Payback Period: 4 Years
  • Year 5 EBITDA: $449,000
[dynamic_pic11]

Where is the break-even line?

The franchise unit break-even analysis spreadsheet shows the operation hits its monthly break-even point in March 2026, just 3 months after the initial launch. This rapid ramp-up is defintely driven by the immediate launch of professional and industrial staffing revenue streams totaling $400,000 in combined Year 1 forecast.

Break-even Drivers

  • Early corporate contract wins
  • Strict office rent control
  • Staggered recruiter hiring plan
[dynamic_pic12]

How much cash cushion is needed?

The lowest cash point occurs in May 2026 with a balance of $984,000, suggesting the model accounts for significant working capital to fund payroll before client collections. You need a robust franchise unit cash flow statement to manage the timing gap between paying contract laborers and receiving professional staffing fees.

Cash Protection Actions

  • Monitor client payment terms
  • Phase furniture and fixture buys
  • Delay non-essential admin hiring
[dynamic_pic13]

How do scenarios impact results?

Financial forecasting for light industrial staffing agencies shows that hitting the High scenario depends on maximizing the $518,400 professional staffing potential by Year 5. While the Medium case sees steady growth, a Low scenario with higher candidate screening costs or slower corporate contract adoption would compress the 1.01 ROE and extend the payback period.

High-Case Strategies

  • Aggressive B2B networking efforts
  • High candidate retention programs
  • Optimized AI-driven matching

excellent pillows i bought two sets!!
Size: Firm Queen (2 Count), Color: Original White (Cooling)
I ordered these for my son who has neck issues and has gone through so many pillows trying to find one that he liked. They’re heavy, so i was worried that they might be “too” heavy to be able to sleep on comfortably, so I ordered a second set, one firmer than the other (just in case) and gave him a set for Xmas and he loved the first set so much without even trying the less firm ones.He also needs the cooling factor and these offered that, too. They are filled with pieces of memory foam (tons of it) and each pillow can be modified by removing some of the foam. The covers are beautiful, high quality fabric with a zipper so ts easy to remove or replace the foam pieces. The size is perfect and they keep their shape. I kept the second set i ordered rather than returning them and i love the pillows. I actually modified two by removing some of the foam pieces. I kept the foam pieces in a zippered pillow protector and i can always adjust mine when or if i need to. 1000% love these.

The Perfect Firm Pillow l
Size: Queen (1 Count), Color: Original White (Cooling)
It is everything it claims to be, cool, comfortable and strong. I got this for my husband first, he loves it and then got one for my son, he uses it to support his knees and has been sleeping much better since then. They both needed a firm pillow that is not super soft, firm but not achy. Finally found the perfect one.

Feel like I am in hotel
Size: Standard (Pack of 2), Style: Soft, Configuration: Pillow
These pillows are absolutely amazing! They feel just like the luxurious ones you find in high-end hotels—soft, fluffy, and super comfortable. They provide great support for my head and neck, helping me sleep better every night. The white design is clean and classic, and they hold their shape well without going flat. I bought two and couldn’t be happier—worth every penny! Highly recommend for anyone wanting hotel-quality comfort at home.

Great set of pillows!!!
Size: Standard (Pack of 2), Style: Soft, Configuration: Pillow
I ordered this set of two down alternative pillows to replace some older pillows, and I’m honestly really impressed with the quality. Right out of the package, the pillows fluffed up nicely and felt soft yet supportive. They have that plush feel you want without being too flat or too firm, which makes them comfortable in multiple sleeping positions. I’ve been sleeping on these for a bit now and they’ve held their shape well throughout the night. They provide good neck support while still feeling cozy, and I don’t wake up with soreness or stiffness. What I like most is how breathable they feel compared to some other pillows I’ve tried. They stay comfortable without overheating, and the down alternative fill makes them a great option for anyone with allergies. Overall, this set is an excellent value for the price. If you’re looking for soft, supportive pillows that feel comfortable and well made, I would definitely recommend these.

Great, soft, high-quality pillows, but too thick for me
Size: Standard (Pack of 2), Style: Soft, Configuration: Pillow
This will be a brief review of my pillow journey. I tried a few of the most popular pillows, like MyPillow, Amazon Basics, bamboo/shredded foam, memory pillows, but my most common complaint about them were that they were all just too high and firm for me. I am a restless sleeper and alternate between back, side, and stomach sleeping, and I strongly preferred the stomach sleeper/flat pillows with a polyester fiber/down alternative filling. Here's a ranking of my 4 top pillows: Eversnug Adjustable Layer Pillows - (#1) These were THE pillow for me. I had never heard of these pillows or the company, but I really like being able to adjust my pillow. These pillows came with 2 small, 2 medium, and 2 large pillows and 2 twin zippable pillow pouches. All of them were polyester fiber filled and somewhat flat and soft, but not lumpy. The pillows may not come the exact same sizes, but they are close enough for me. These are the pillows I ultimately decided to stick with, despite being slightly more expensive than the others at $50 for a set of 2 pillows. Nappler Bamboo Shredded Memory Foam Pillow - (#2) Before I found the Eversnug pillows, I was trying the adjustable bamboo shredded memory foam ones. These were my go-to whenever I was testing pillows I didn't like very much. The only downside to these pillows is that if you don't add enough filling, you could feel the edges of the shredded foam. Also, the "bamboo" cover was way too warm and the inner zipper would get too easily caught. Amazon Basics Down Alternative Pillow - (#3) I don't think I've ever been disappointed by an Amazon Basics product yet. These pillows were soft, amazing pillows, but they were 1-2 inches too thick/firm for me. MyPillow - (#4) Despite all the hype around these, they were too lumpy and 1 inch too thick for me. Like I said previously, I ended up going with the Eversnug Adjustable pillows, which I absolutely adore. A tiny bonus is that you can take the pillows you don't use and rest them on your sides or between your knees for some extra cushioning.
