4+3 Lockout Rod Assembly – C4 Corvette (1984–1988)The lockout knob and rod assembly is prone to wear; when worn it can allow unintended reverse gear selection and or poor shifting from 1st to 2nd as the shifter passes by the improperly positioned reverse detent. The plastic knobs are susceptible to breakage and when broken can disable reverse gear selection. This all new rod and knob assembly has the correct pieces to keep the shifter quiet during road travel. The installation of the lockout rod

The installation of the lockout rod assembly requires shift knob removal on 1984-1985 Corvettes. 1986-1988 Corvettes require shift knob and O/D push button rod removal for installation.
